"Even in Scandinavian countries, where one could never have imagined that there would be a rise of the right, even there, right-wing parties have formed government. This seems to be happening around the world and the Sikh community is not immune from this," he said.
Harinder Singh is an educationist, thought leader and co-founder of Sikh Research Institute as well as of the Punjab Digital Library.
During his recent visit to Australia, SBS Punjabi caught up with him at our Melbourne studios.
Among the topics discussed, the first was Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit to India, followed by a demand during the visit of the French President Emmanuel Macron's Indian visit, to address Sikh human rights issues.
This was followed by a discussion about the 'rise of right-wing' ideologies around the world, and also a perception that 'anti-India sentiment' is gaining ground amongst diaspora Punjabis.
Finally, Harinder spoke about the Punjab Digital Library - and told our listeners even they can contribute to the preservation of our rich culture and heritage.
