What is the bowling equivalent of a 'reverse sweep' or a 'switch shot'!
If anything comes close, Sri Lanka's under 19 cricketer, Kamindu Mendis may have already mastered it.
17 year old Mendis is ambidexterous, bowling with his both arms with equal precision and skill.
During the ongoing ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, off spinner Kamindu Mendis bowled both right-arm-off-spin and left-arm orthodox in the same over.
He started his over bowling a left-arm-orthodox to a right handed Pakistani batsman, and swiched to right-arm-off-spin as soon as a left-handed batsman faced him.
The bowling arm-switch even surpirsed the commentators.
"This is incredible... This is just brilliant to see..The ICC under-19 Cricket World Cup this is something you get to see. The guy who was bowling left-arm spin has decided he is going to bowl right-arm off spin," said Sanjay Manjrekar.
It's very rare when bowlers have bowled with borth arms during international cricket matches. Before Mednis, Hashan Tilakaratne bowled with both arms against Kenya in the 1996 World Cup.
Kamindu Mendis started as a right-arm off-spinner and later developed a left-arm orthodox. On Wednesday, he finished with 4-0-21-0 and scored an important fifty with the bat.
Well, those complaining about cricket becoming a batsman domiating game, may find some solace in this ambidexterous young bowler.
