Three dead, many injured as driver hits pedestrians in Melbourne CBD

There are reports of multiple injuries after an erratic driver ploughed into pedestrians on Burke Street in Melbourne CBD.

Update - Police have provided an update on the incident that happened in Burke Street in Melbourne this afternoon. Three people are confirmed dead and at least twenty have been injured as an erratic driver drove into pedestrians on the street. Police believe that this is connect to an earlier stabbing incident in Windsor.


The Age has reported that shots have been fired and pedestrians have been run down during a police chase in Burke Street in the middle of Melbourne’s CBD. There have been unconfirmed reports in the media about the behavior of the driver. Witnesses have described a man hanging out of a window as he performed “doughnuts” outside Flinders Street Station while the police helicopter hovered above. Then the car is said to have sped towards Burke Street.
An ambulance Victoria’s statement read,

“Paramedics are attending an incident in Melbourne CBD.

Emergency services were called to Bourke Street just before 1.40pm.

It's believed a car has hit pedestrians.

A number of people have been injured.”
