An Uber Eats driver has been left with a cut and swelling on the face after being allegedly assaulted as he sat in his car waiting for his wife.

30-year-old Yogesh Kakkar says he was on his way to deliver food to a customer when his wife asked him to stop at Kendall Street McDonalds in Penrith on Thursday night.

While he waited in his car in the car park, he was allegedly punched in the face.

“He was behind me and as I was waiting for my wife to come out, I moved my car to a side making way for him, but he suddenly came to me and as I rolled down the window, he punched me in the face,” Mr Kakkar told SBS Punjabi.

“I blacked out for nearly 10-15 seconds and was left pretty shaken even after that.”

Mr Kakkar says his wife had also come out by then and the alleged assailant threatened her as well.

“My wife is pregnant and I didn’t want him to hurt her. So even though I was bleeding from the face, I just thought it best to get away,” he said.

The Indian national who is in Australia on a student dependent visa, then reported the matter to Penrith Police Station after getting medical help.

SBS Punjabi has contacted NSW Police Force.
