Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives have succeeded in identifying the man who was found unconscious in Melbourne's western suburb of Tarneit in early hours on Monday.
In a press release earlier today, the Victoria Police revealed that the concerned person is a 40-year-old man from the south-western suburb of Werribee. He was found by a passer-by about 2.55am near Tammy Lane and Mirror Avenue.
He was assessed by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The police also said that his family has now come forward.
The circumstances of how the man became unconscious are unclear and officers from Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the matter. However, it’s not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
The police also took the opportunity to thank members of the public and media for their assistance.
