Your opportunity to ‘Know India’

The Know India Program is an opportunity for the youth of Indian-origin all over the world to visit India and gain an understanding of its art, culture, politics and economy.

The Indian Government is inviting people of Indian-origin to participate in its ‘Know India Program’ in order to create awareness about the country and its emergence as an economic powerhouse.

The program that has been in existence since 2003, is a flagship program of India’s External Affairs Ministry for engaging the youth of Indian-origin (aged 18-30) from all over the world (Excluding non-resident Indians).

The 25-day program is aimed at showcasing India’s art and culture, diversity, its infrastructure and economic prowess to the world through the participants.

Participants visit India’s national Capital, New Delhi, Agra- best known for the Taj Mahal and other places of historical, cultural and religious significance. They also meet opinion makers, leaders and officials to get an overview of India’s economy, society and ongoing growth and development story.

Expenses

The participants are provided boarding and transportation within India and 90 per cent of the return air fare from their country of residence to India.  They are also granted Gratis Visas by the Indian missions in their country.

Eligibility

Minimum qualification required for participating in KIP is a Bachelor’s from a recognised University /Institute. Those enrolled in a bachelor’s degree course can also apply. Applicants should be able to speak and understand the English language. The applicant should not have visited India through any previous Programme of Government of India. Those who have not visited India before will be given preference.

They must also provide a documentary evidence to prove their Indian origin or an undertaking about Indian origin which must be countersigned by Indian Embassy/High Commission/Consul General.

How to apply

Applications for the program are open til 21 July 2017 and can be submitted online at www.kip.gov.in.  

This year, the government of India will run these four chapters of the program.

41 KIP 3-27 September 2017 Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh

42 KIP 1-25 October 2017 Jharkhand & Chhattisgarh

43 KIP 1-25 November 2017 Meghalaya & Assam

44 KIP 29-23 December 2017 Andhra Pradesh & Telangana

Applicants are required to indicate their preference for each chapter in the order priority.

Successful applicants will be given get an opportunity to gain an understanding of India’s political system, economy, society and developments in other sectors.

They will have an opportunity to familiarise with India’s art, music, culture and also visit Industrial installations, villages and interact with nonprofit organisations.
