ਸਾਲ 2009 ਵਿੱਚ ਬਤੌਰ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਆਏ ਪਰਿਮਾਲ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਨੈਂਟ ਰੇਸੀਡੈਂਸੀ ਮਿਲੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਸਟੋਰ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੀ।

ਵੁੱਧਵਾਰ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਲੀ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਪਰਿਮਾਲ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਲਾਸ਼ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਨਬੇਰਾ ਦੇ ਬੋਨਯਥਾਨੰ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਓਹਨਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਇੱਕ ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਦੀ ਦੂਰੀ ਤੇ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਹੋਈ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਹਾਲਤ ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਪਰਿਮਾਲ 2009 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਆਏ ਸਨ। ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਓਹਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਚਿਰ ਇੱਕ ਫਾਸਟਫੂਡ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ। ਓਹਨਾ ਦੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ, ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਓਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਓਹਨਾ ਦੀ ਪਰਮਾਨੈਂਟ ਰੇਸੀਡੈਂਸੀ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਓਹਨਾ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ, ਪਰਿਮਾਲ ਖਾਸ ਖੁਸ਼ ਸੀ.

ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਰੁਸਖੇਤਰ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਿਮਾਲ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਦੇਹਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਚ ਕੇਵਲ ਦੋ ਭੈਣਾਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਕੁਝ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸਨੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ।

Friends of an Indian national found dead in Canberra have banded together to repatriate his dead body to his sisters in India.

40-year-old Parimal Das was found dead in Bonython, ACT on Wednesday, 7^th February. The ACT police say the death appears to be “non-suspicious”. But they are investigating the circumstances in which it occurred.

Mr Das had been Australia for nearly nine years, first arriving here as a student in 2009.

His friends have told SBS Punjabi that he recently got his permanent residency after remaining without work rights for nearly two years.

Mr Das had a diploma in automotive studies before working in the fast food industry for a few years.

Jaswant Singh, a close friend of Mr Das told SBS Punjabi that he was about to start work as a store manager at a big retail company.

“He has been through very tough circumstances during the last two years. But since he got his PR [permanent residency] three months ago, he was very happy and was excited about starting to work again,” said Mr Singh who has travelled from Melbourne to Canberra to help repatriate the body.

He said Mr Das visited him in Melbourne last week and looked "very happy". 

A postmortem examination of the body has been conducted on Friday and the report is expected to reveal the cause of death.

Originally from Kurukshetra in Haryana, Mr Das’ body was found nearly a kilometre away from his Prisk Place home that he shared with another family. He is survived by his wife.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
