Three important events in the history of the Australian-Russian relations were celebrated last Wednesday at Russian House in Melbourne. It marked 210 years since the first contact between Russia and Australia, 160 years of establishing consular relations and 75 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Australia and then Soviet Union. There was also small but impressive display of documents from Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire and Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation and also Australian sketches by Russian artist of XIX century Pavel Mikhailov.
This reception was organised by he Honorary Consul - General of Russian Federation in Queensland and Victoria Irina Bruk on behalf of His Excellency Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Australia Mr Grigory Logvinov and Mrs Irina Logvinova and in the presence of Consul- General Mr.Sergey Shipilov and Mrs.T.Shipilova. The guests included President of Legislative Council Bruce Atkinson, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mirza Hajric and General and Honorary consuls from 25 countries and members of the Russian community .
