State of emergency in Ecuador: Hostages taken during live broadcast and a fugitive drug lord

President of Ecuador declared a state of emergency in the country amid an attack on a TV channel live. The escalation occurred after a local drug lord escaped from prison. The government declared war on gangs. Immediately after this, several armed attacks occurred in Ecuador, with at least four police officers kidnapped.
