Three tons of flowers left in memory of the victims of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack were brought to the space where more than 160 volunteers picked and dried bouquets, ironed leaves and sorted petals. Nina Sanadze, visual artist, sculptor and curator at Goldstone Gallery in Melbourne, came up with the idea. The Petal by Petal project is being created for an exhibition at the Sydney Jewish Museum.
“These flowers are a very strong visual image of society's support and love. I really wanted to keep it as a letter of love and support,” says Nina.
