Criminal syndicates are using sham marriages to get foreign men into Australia. The Department of Foreign Affairs cancelled 164 visas issued previously to people, mostly Indians, whose marriages proved to be sham. Canberra is reluctant to take up New Zealand's offer to resettle 150 refugees.
