Australian Open 2020: Maria Sharapova was knocked out

Russian Maria Sharapova lost to Croatian Donna Vekic 3:6, 4:6 in the first round of Australian Open 2020, in a match that lasted one hour and 22 minutes. She had gained massive popularity after winning the tournament in 2008, but could never repeat her success Down Under. She told Andrej Bucko she wasn’t sure about playing tennis anymore, before announcing her retirement two weeks later.
