Boris Portnoy says his story is a typical journey of a migrant. Leaving the Soviet Union as a kid with his parents and then learning to call the US their new home, he eventually found himself in Melbourne. Boris left behind successful career as head pastry chef at a three-Michelin star venue in California for a new life that he shaped the way he envisioned - working for community and with the community, in this case Northcote community, where he opened a bakery - "All Are Welcome".
