Tajikistan 1992. The family of Nazira Zuptarova, a mother, newborn brother and six-year-old Nazira, saving their lives, fled to neighboring Uzbekistan, hoping to take refuge at their relatives. But refugees, who were accepted no other than for free labor, received a cold reception in hot Uzbekistan. At the age of 7, Nazira, herself unaware, became a child slave. She learned about it only 25 years later, coming to her work in central Sydney where she saw an article in slavery in Uzbekistan. "Everyone was doing it and I did it too", she said to her manager at work. After accepting and realizing her past, Nazira is now ready to speak openly about her story, which she shared with SBS.
