President of Chess Victoria and vice-president of Australian Chess Federation Leonid Sandler returned from The 43rd World Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia. We talked about his impressions from the newly elected head of FIDE Arkady Dvorkovich and discussed the results of the teams which in some sense were predictable with the inconsistent performance of Russian teams in recent years. Australian Women team was on 41st place (down from 35th rating) and men came 33rd (up from previous 44). Leonid was not disappointed with his team, girls from Wales who showed a steady performance
