New production of Verdi's Aida is now on in Sydney Opera House. The role of Amneris is played by Elena Gabouri. Originally from St. Petersburg, Elena has been living in France for many years, and came to Australia for the first time. Australian critics and viewers talk about her expressive, richly colored voice, which is ideal for this role. No wonder, Elena loves singing this part, especially here, on the Australian stage!
