Recent terrorist attacks in Brussels on 22 March 2016, Belgium, have once again highlighted complex security challenges facing Europe. These latest acts of terrorism, combined with attacks in France last year as well as multiple security scares across other member states of the European Union (EU) have risen the significance of the threat of transnational terrorism to the EU and broader Europe. SPEAKER Dr Alexey D. Muraviev is Head of Department of Social Sciences and Security Studies at Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia. He is a Coordinator of the International Relations and National Security programs and the founder and Director of the Strategic Flashlight forum on national security and strategy at Curtin.
