Elena Litovsky is well known in the Russian-speaking community of Melbourne. She has been a general practitioner for 15 years. For five years, she struggled with uveal melanoma, a rare form of cancer. Even so, she kept coming to work and helping patients during the COVID pandemic.
On Monday, January 22, we were waiting for Elena, her husband Konstantin and their three children, 15-year-old Vanya and 11-year-old twins Anya and Vitya, for an interview at the SBS studio in Melbourne. On Sunday, January 21, Elena Litovski passed away.
Konstantin, Vanya, Anya and Vitya, as well as Elena's friend Katya, came to the studio to share their story and talk about Elena as a doctor and a person, as well as about the desease Elena had.
