The US, Britain and France have conducted airstrikes on multiple chemical weapons site in Syria. US President Donald Trump says the airstrikes send a message of deterrance to the Syrian government. We asked Dr Alexey Muraviev the Associate Professor of National Security and Strategic Studies at Curtin University in Perth, how likely is the scenario of escalation to the direct military confrontation between the nuclear superpowers.
