Fedor Leikin, author, translator, photographer and hydrologist, moved to Australia from Saint Petersburg in 1992. He was sure he would be the first person from Russia to live in Australia. He carried a book about the country issued by the Aussie embassy, $400, and two addresses where he hoped to get work and support.
