The first Jewish Limmud FSU Festival in Russian language was held in Moscow in 2006 and since has evolved into an independent educational and communal network of annual conferences and festivals, attracting more than 50,000 participants around the world of all ages and social backgrounds — from Canada to Australia. This time it is held in Sydney and has invited among speakers Ruta Vanagaite the controversial Lithuanian author of the book Us, which is now published in many languages but incurred the full fury in her homeland. Vanagaite dared to be the first who openly wrote about the fact that Holocaust in Lithuania was carried out largely not by German occupiers but by Lithuanians.
