This year Wild Oats XI has been stripped of its line honours after receiving a one-hour penalty in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. L-D-V Comanche has been declared winner in its place. Wild Oats had been the first boat to cross the line at Constitution Dock in a record-breaking time of one day, eight hours, 48 minutes and 50 seconds. But second-place Comanche, who finished only 26 minutes behind Wild Oats, lodged a protest over a near collision between the two super-maxis at the start of the race.Race official John Rountree says the international jury has upheld the protest.
