Pyotr Patrushev was by no means an ordinary man. He made an incredible escape from Russia by swimming across the Black Sea to Turkey, he worked for Radio Liberty and BBC, He was sentenced to death in abstentia and was on KGB' list for 25 years. And at the same time Pyotr was in constant search for the self development for himself and for the human kind and search of discovering the meaning of life. All his endeavours were filled with laughter and humour, and as his widow Alice Messerer explains two of his posthumously published books - Buddha’s Balalaika and The Transcendent Ape will serve for the lasting memory of their author and will no doubt be enjoyed by the new generation.
