Teatro alla Scala has been travelling around the world since 1878 and has never failed to amaze the audiences with pitch perfect performances. For the first time in its history La Scala is visiting Australia thanks to the 2018 Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) International Series, which brings renowned international arts companies to Australian audiences. Our very own Leonid Sarafanov is one of the leading artists of the Company. We caught up with Leonid in between his training sessions to ask him about his role as Basilio in Don Quixote, the influence of the legendary choreographer and ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, and Leonid’s remarkable transition from folk dance to classical ballet.
