Irek Fakhrutdinov is a member of Academy of science and engineer of the rocket engines who worked in the USSR and later in Russia, living with his family in Adelaide now. His scientific work coincided with the peak of Arms race. Positioned in the centre of scientific researches, he knew it firsthand what catch up and surpass America meant. Did the USSR manage to win that race? Why the engines engineered 40 years ago still couldnt be replaced?
