Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne is stressing the importance of Australia's relationship with the United States and of security and strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region during talks in Washington. It comes as Department of Foreign Affairs secretary Frances Adamson has delivered a speech pushing a similar line back in Canberra. And both come as China and the United States have exchanged words -- and more -- over the South China Sea.
