A joint event was held in Melbourne on Saturday, 29 October 2023, organized by a group of local activists and 'Southern Cross' club. The evening named 'From Stalin’s Political Prisoners to Putin’s Political Prisoners' included several parallel events: 'Return of Names' in memory of Soviet political prisoners, writing letters to political prisoners in Russia, and poetry and live music.
