In the wake of murder of the Russian ambassador Andrey Karlov in Ankara, in Moscow trilateral talks between Iran, Turkey and Russia have resulted in a so-called Moscow Declaration, which sets out principles for a possible future peace deal in Syria. Russian Foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has already called this meeting the most effective format for settlement of the conflict. We asked Dr. Leonid Petrov, the Researcher at ANU School of Culture, History and Language College of Asia and the Pacific to analyse the prospects of three countries approach to the crisis.
