At the ceremony of the Asia-Pacific film awards in Brisbane last Thursday unfortunately all eight Russian movies missed out on the big prize. The winner of the best fiction film was awarded to the Turkish fairytale Kalandar Cold. The Russian film The Student was nominated in the same category. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to talk to the director Kirill Serebrennikov who was at the ceremony, but the producer Ilya Stewart could spare a little time to talk to us, and first we congratulated him if not with the great win, but with the nomination.
