Leading experts from across the globe are gathering this week at the Australian National University (ANU) for one of the most wide-ranging conferences on post-Soviet Russia since the end of the Cold War, titled Putins Russia in the Wake of the Cold War. One of the key speakers is Dr Kirill Nourzhanov from ANU Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies shares the view that Russian position is unfortunately not well understood by the West.
