The tug of war between Russia and Britain has passed into a new stage – London expelled 23 Russian diplomats, Russia will certainly retaliate. Britain has involved the UN Security Council in the conflict and both countries accused each other of violation of various provisions of the Convention on prohibition of chemical weapon. There are discussions around a chemical agent Novichok which according to the British experts, has poisoned Sergey Skripal and his daughter. We asked Dr Alexey Muraviev the Associate Professor of National Security and Strategic Studies at Curtin University in Perth, WA, for an update on the events of the last days.
