United States president Donald Trump says he would have ordered his former national-security adviser to discuss sanctions with Russia if he thought he needed to. General Michael Flynn resigned this week after it emerged he spoke to Russia's US ambassador before Mr Trump was inaugurated. It comes as the US and Russian foreign ministers have met for the first time during the G20 summit in Germany.
