Unusual choice of learning Russian in Australia

Russian is not the mother tongue of the students at University of Queensland who are studying at the Russian program. Despite the fact that this language is not the first choice for Australians outside the Russian-speaking community, the students here persist with their studies planning to have their life closely tied in with the Russian language. The coordinator of the Russian program at School of Languages and Cultures Anna Mikhaylova tells how the teachers encourage the students to practice their verbal skills in Russian.
