US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called the war unleashed by Vladimir Putin against Ukraine a strategic failure of Russia. He said the invasion weakened Russia diplomatically, economically and militarily. The fight against Ukraine strengthened the alliances that Moscow sought to weaken: NATO and the European Union.
