Victory Day in Sydney Waverley Park

On 9 May 9 the traditional ceremony was held at a monument to the Unknown soldier in Sydney Waverly Park with the memorial plaque in honour of the perished soldiers of the former Soviet Union. It was organised by the Waverly City Council and The Horizon newspaper. The flowers were laid by the Russian Ambassador Grigory Logvinov, the consul general Sergey Shipilov, the ambassador of Belarus Victor Shikh, Mayor of Waverly Sally Bets, the Orthodox priest Fr. Nikita Chemodakov and rabbi Yoram Ulman. The members of the NSW association of WW2 soviet veterans with the president Efim Solovey were also present as well as of the Russian-speaking community
