This year Russian-speaking community of Australia has again widely celebrated the Victory Day. Immortal regiments, picnics, commemorative meetings and concerts happened In Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and other cities. Unfortunately the generation of the people who lived or fought through the war, even the children of 1945, are getting old and frail and seldom have good health or physical capacity to venture outside to these events. Many people from the former USSR have endured difficult years of war - fighting in the Red Army, working at home front or lived through a ghetto, or in evacuation are residents of Jewish care Montefiore Homes in Melbourne. A group of volunteers has decided to make a Victory Day special and memorable for them. This initiative belonged to Sarah Bendetsky and her Subbotnik.
