Dr. Yulia Khukalenko spent seven months on the Tiwi Islands researching the lives of Indigenous peoples for the Tiwi Islands Training and Employment Program (TIITEP). Her goal was to understand how they envision their future and what areas are most important to support and develop. She says the experience has profoundly changed her as a researcher and as a person. "I have a different perspective on pauses, silence, and how we engage with other cultures. And, perhaps, in some ways, I've also come to understand myself better."
