4,444 cases of child abuse by Catholic priests reported to the Royal Commission.

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has heard of widespread child abuse by orders of the Catholic Church. The worst perpetrators were priests for the St John of God order. Ten percent of complaints were made against nuns and female workers.
