The dark reality of street life in Rio was experienced by 2 rowing officials of the Australian Olympic team when they were robbed at knifepoint after attending the Opening Ceremony of the Games.

They handed over their phones, a little bit of cash, and one of the robbers took his Olympic jacket that he'd been marching in, it happened to be lying around down there. Other then that they didn't have much on them at all."
