Samoa's parliament passed changes to its electoral laws at the end of last month.
In an interview with Samoa's Electoral Commissioner, Le Tofa Faimalomatumua Mathew Lemisio, he says the main changes involve setting electoral boundaries along geographical rather than genealogical considerations - electors will vote for the electorate in which they live. The other main change is the ban on traditional gift-giving by candidates until 2 years after an election.
