Faumuina Tiatia Liuga banned from Sili

Former minister of finance in the Samoan government Faumuina Tiatia Liuga has been banned from a village in his constituency. The decision by the chiefly council of Sili village was made after Faumuina won a legal challenge against a high chief of the village, Le Tagaloa Pita. Faumuina was supported by the village mayor arguing that Le Tagaloa had not satisfied the monotaga or service requirement under the Act. Both Faumuina and the village mayor are banned for life under the decision by the chiefly council.
