Kevin Rudd not supported by prime minister

Prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has defended his decision not to recommend Kevin Rudd as Australia's candidate for the position of Secretary General of the UN, saying Mr Rudd lacks the interpersonal skills and temperament for the job.

(Turnbull:)"I said to him the reason was he was unsuitable for the job was in interpersonal skills and temperament. Well I wouldn't dispute that.

(Host:)He's been described as a control freak and a narcissistic psychopath for heavens sake.."

(Turnbull:)"Well again, I have noted that (laughs)

(Host:)"Have you disagreed with that?

(Turnbull:)"Well again, Neil, I'm not going to get into a commentary on Mr Rudd."
