Manus Island detainees get $70million compensation

The federal government and its contractors that ran the offshore processing centre on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea will pay compensation of $70million to the detainees in an out-of-court settlement. They will also pay legal costs of $20million to the law firm Slater & Gordon that brought the case on behalf of the detainees.
