A ban on the sale of loose cigarettes and age limit are some of the measures to curb tobacco smoking in Samoa.

It used to be a habit for some adults in Samoa to send the children to the local village shop with a few coins to buy loose cigarettes.  But under new laws to curb smoking and the increasing numbers of people with smoking-related illnesses, the Samoa government has banned the sale of loose cigarettes and the sale of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21.
