Andre Afamasaga wrote an opinion piece in the Sydney Morning Herald to reach out to young Samoan and other Pacific gay people who may have been hurt and marginalized by Israel Folau's comments on social media.

Andre Afamasaga told us of the loneliness he felt before he came out in his forties and the concern he feels for young gay Pacific Islanders who are torn between their Christian faith and attitudes prevalent in Pacific communities against gay people. This is a frank and open interview which reveals a gentle soul and a glimpse into the struggles that people in the LGBTQI+ community, especially young people go through, some may be suffering in silence.
