Samoan schools in areas that were affected by a tsunami in 2009 have been given training drills on safety and emergency response.

Schools in the rural districts of Aleipata and Falealili have been given training drills on what to do when a tsunami warning is issued.  These areas were badly damaged by a tsunami in 2009 that killed more than a hundred people including many children and the elderly.
