Samoa Prison Services to be disbanded and back under Samoa Police.

The Commissioner of Samoa's Prison Services, Taito Edward Winterstein, has resigned as government moves to place the administration of Samoa's prisons under the Police Department.

This development has come only days after more than thirty prisoners broke out of the new prison at Tanumalala. Most of the escapees have been captured and returned behind bars, but four are still on the run.
