This year the Serbian Film Festival will open across Australia at Hoyts cinemas – Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Fremantle – on Monday 26 November; in Brisbane, Hoyts Sunnybank on Thursday 29 November. Five contemporary films will be screened throughout the festival, adding to over 120 Serbian feature and documentary films screened throughout the past seventeen years in Australia. 2018 Serbian Film Festival Ambassador is internationally acclaimed author, Sreten Bozic aka B.Wongar. Closing the film festival will be Andrijana Stojkovic’s documentary WONGAR, a story told with subtlety, care and warmth, as it unravels part of his complex life. A Serbian émigré arriving in Australia in 1960, Sreten has worked tirelessly since the 1970s on his various writing projects primarily concerned with the fate of the Australian Aboriginal, environmental issues and the plight of the native dingo.
Earlier this year, Andrijana Stojković's film WONGAR has been crowned Best Feature Documentary at the Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival.Share
