Title defender Ivana Spanovic was not competing in the long jump final due to achilles injury. She said on her instagram account: "With broken heart I need to announce that my medical team decide to pull me back from today's finals after an injury I suffer during my first attempt in qualifications. I suffer from rupture of Achilles tendon. We tried everything until the very last moment, but unfortunately my road ends here. Until next season..."


Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Kevin Anderson in three sets, 6-7 6-4 7-6, to reach his maiden Masters 1000 final in Toronto. Djokovic was also in Canada. He was one of four top-10 players to lose to Tsitsipas, crashing out of the third round in three sets.

Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic will begin his 12th campaign for the Cincinnati Masters title against Steve Johnson. It is the only one of the nine Masters 1000 titles he is yet to win
