Khokhlomskaya Rospis is the biggest factory of nesting dolls - matryoshkas in Russia. Everything is manufactured manually – some 600 workers produce about 500 matryoshkas per day. Interestingly enough, even though it is one of the most recognizable symbols of Russia, matryoshka actually originates from a Japanese figurine fukuruma, which consists of four pieces.
